CABLES

1.Modification of the cable comes with the Adapter

1-1 The cable comes with the Adapter

1-2 Prepare Contacts

You need two additional contacts for blue connector. If you can not find the proper connector, use PC LED cables as a replacement.

Obtain this Remove plastic sheath Check the lock

It can be obtained from most PC parts shops

Also cut the cables into two inches long

Find the location of lock tab

Insert the contacts into blue connector as shown below. Make sure that the pins are inserted  firmly and locked. The contacts seat rather loose if you use above replacement. This should not be the problem from my experiences.

Also prepare a two inch cable and solder it to Signal Ground (orange one on my cable). To solder the cable, you must melt the cable sheath until the copper line appears.

1-3.Soldering

Solder three wires together and fix it using plastic tape.

Additional wires Solder three wires Fix it
Add two pins.
Solder two inches wire to Signal Ground line.
The soldered point should not contact to other line or metal case.

2.Ready made input DIN cable

ALPINE has a line of option cables for their car audio units.
Part# KCM-122B for RCA female connectors.
    Part# KCM-123B for Mini-Plug.

KCM-122B Goes to DIN Package
Cable length is about 8 inches. Goes to round DIN connector.

US$16-17 approx.

3.Build You Own Cable

You can build the cable by yourself. Soldering skills are required.

3-1.Parts

8pins DIN connector Device Connector
Use 8pins DIN type-C connector. 7pins and 5pins connectors can be also used.
This should be available at electronics parts shops such as Radio Shack or Fry's. I suggest you bring your Adapter with you since there are two versions of 8pins DIN.
Prepare Audio connector which suits your Audio device. Here I used Mini-Plug for my Toshiba HDD portable player Gigabeat.
Cut the ready made audio cable to avoid unnecessary soldering problems if you are not familiar with it.

3-2.Cable

Cut the audio cable into the length that suits you. Peel the sheath about 1/2-1/3inches. Twist and solder together both shields.

Check which one is Right/Left signal with circuit tester.

In the case of Mini-Plug, top ball is Left signal, the middle ring is Right signal and the bottom ring is shield or ground.

3-3.Soldering to DIN connector

Signal Pin# Function
LEFT 5 Left audio signal
RIGHT 4 Right audio signal
GND 2 Signal Ground
